Well, its official. Des has gone from "trying to crawl" to trouble finder. He's been getting up on all fours, etc, for a few weeks now but last Monday he just starting doing it, crawling. And each day he got progressively better and faster until yesterday (at Grandma and Grandpa's house) he found the lamp, the lamp cord, one laptop, two laptop cords, a plant, the door shade, the stairs (going down) and the drawer on the entertainment center - which ended up attacking him (long story). So we are in full "watch baby" mode! He also started dancing. One of Grandma's books has a little music button on the last page and when you push it Des starts to bounce back and forth, really cute! =)
Marc's parents came down last weekend to attend Marc's recital (which went off *very* well). We made pulled BBQ chicken sandwiches and fudgesicles! mmmmm Summer favorites. =) They trained Des hard for crawling but, of course, he decides to do it when nobody is cheering him on! =) He is his own self. =)
We are currently in Montana. We are getting together with the old, old gang tonight. When I say old, old I mean two gangs ago, not elderly. See, now that we live in Wyoming, the Iowa gang is the old gang which makes the MT gang the old, old gang - get it? Anyway, we're looking forward to catching up with everyone. =) And, of course, showing off our son.
Marc is taking music clinics yesterday and today. I went to a music clinic last night for 2 and a half hours and it was fun - it was for church choir music so basically you just sing all this music as an introduction to what is available to buy. A group from our WY church went and we all had a good time just singing.
So, my apologies, but no pictures this week. Marc has been working with the laptop and to spare you the details, I have to wait to download my pics from my camera, but he's almost done so hopefully soon I'll be able to post some new pics and maybe a crawling video. =)

Home Again.... Again.
We are back from a week with G&G G with two pit stops at G&G B's. Des traveled well again, which is a relief. We attended Marc's 10-year reunion, went to the art festival, went to the museum and watched a parade. Marc had a good time seeing old classmates again and I had a good time meeting them - was different than my reunion. Seemed like everyone in his class was acquantices with everyone - in my class people just resumed thier old cliques.
Des was enamored with the parade, at first. He tired of it about 3/4 of the way through and decided to make his own parade. He and I walked the sidewalk back and forth till the parade was over. He would occasionaly stop and stare at some of the folks, smile and continue on.
We also got to spend time with Marc's old buddy Andrew and his wife Kristi - they are expecting twins. We got to impart some of our "wisdom" on child rearing (since we've been *so* successful). =) We spent some of our talk discussing parenting topics, not something we usually get to do, especially as the "more experienced." We're excited for them.
We had a nice 4th of July barbeque with Corrina, Maury, Grandma and Grandpa - although we had it on the 3rd because Corrina had to go back to work. We watched fireworks from the window and ate fudgesicles all week - it was a good time. The only down side was that Marc had to visit the dentist twice. Once to have planned worked done and then again because a filling fell out randomly. Lucky guy - got to get drilled on twice in one week!
Our "free time" was spent 'encouraging' Des to crawl - he, of course, frequently requested to be walked instead of training for all fours. Des has learned to grab for your two forefingers or thumbs to lift himself to standing when you just happen to be sitting with him. He has also learned to scream bloody murder if you stop walking before he is ready to stop (is he ever ready to stop?). He also won't walk forward unless he has both of your fingers firmly in his grip. Today, though, I convinced him to try walking with just my hands lightly under his armpits - at first he cried hard and then he realized what he was doing and started squealing and laughing, it was kind of fun.
At my parents house they threw me a belated birthday celebration, which was fun. Justin, Erin and Jacoby just happened to be passing through on the days that we had planned to be there so we got to have some family time which, of course, included lots of "look at the babies" as well as some fun games.
And so.... we're back home again. Des loves coming home - he gets completely ecstatic when he sees the cats. Monte has become more and more tolerant, letting Des touch and talk to him, Tana on the other hand is about as happy as she was the first day with all this "new member of the family" business. =) She will occasionally come and sniff him but if he makes too much noise she exits pretty quick. Marc starts his graduate class on Monday and has continued preparing for his recital next Friday. We moved our furniture around yesterday to try and give Des more "motion" space. I have been on bug patrol as the hot season has hit full force and therefore bugs are migrating indoors to the cool spaces. Yuck. I hate bugs.
One last note: for those that don't yet know - Marc and I are expecting our second baby in December. We hope Des likes him/her. =)
Shoulder ride to the parade.
Shoulder ride in the museum (notice the ear holds).
New trick: So Big - he shows everyone, all the time! =)
Hanging out with Andrew and Kristi.
Reminiscent of my childhood days - my mother decorated our room at her house with stars for a belated birthday greeting.
