Goodbye

In the words of a very wise nanny....Let's start from the very beginning, a very good place to start... Can you name that movie?! =)

For those of you that don't know, Marc has deployed to Afghanistan. The above picture was taken in the middle of the night as we said goodbye to our favorite person. For what it was, it went so very well. A lot of families spend HOURS waiting around for the bus to come take the soldiers to their next destination. While the middle of the night was a little undesirable, we only had to wait 45 minutes for Marc to depart. A blessing. Just long enough to say a really good good-bye. We set out a blanket for the boys with a box of fruit loops (now I know why I was compelled to buy them on sale, since I never do). They rested and munched quite contentedly, instead of whining and fussing about how tired and hungry they were. When the time came to say good-bye Desmond took it a lot harder than we anticipated but we made it through.

We watched the bus leave and then we headed home to our didn't-we-just-do-this new normal. The next week was terrible, Desmond and I got sick, but we have slowly regained energy and momentum in our day to day life. We got to video chat with Marc this morning which was really great for all of us. He is safe and well.

Now that I have told you the beginning I hope to keep you posted on our happenings. I recently got an iPhone, (Christmas present from my Dad and little brother, so Marc will always be able to reach us even if I am not glued to my laptop) which has a great camera on it for lots of good pictures to post! =)

Boys will be boys

Well, I knew we would eventually have this adventure .... But didn't think that my boy would be 4 when we endeavored it.

Jaxter has a cast. A week ago he tackled Marc from behind while Marc was sitting in a video chair and consequently brought it all down on his foot. Long story short it ends up he has a broken tarsal in his right foot....seeing as he is 4 and doesn't understand the concept of "take it easy" ... he got a cast.

Pictures - before, during and after. The after photo looks sad but he and des were just contemplating this thing that is attached to his leg. The last two photos are of tired boys after a long day.

That is all. Have a lovely day. =)

A new year, a new start

Hello!

My mother kindly reminded me today of me deficiency in blogging the last few months. So.....here it goes.

We have been so incredibly busy! I won't even start to catch y'all up on the last few months, perhaps a project for another day.

We'll just start with a few Christmas stories.

We were blessed and a little spoiled this year by our wonderful families, as usual! We are always so very grateful to everyone for giving gifts and blessing our socks off each holiday season.

These pictures were taken with our new iPad! What a fantastic gift from my dad for our little family. So many uses including camera, video camera, email, video chatting, lots of education apps for the boys and ... Blogging! =)

The following pics are of the sandbox Uncle John and Aunt Marilyn sent the boys....so excited! Marc couldn't wait to show it to the so they got it on Christmas Eve morning. Then pictures of the boys playing Santa and handing out presents to everyone. The last picture is of the boys' "blisters" that we gave them.

Well, this is my maiden iPad blogging voyage so we'll see how it turns out and then try more later!

Happy New Year!
