All for Naught?

Took a trip up north so that I could go to a doctor's appointment. Long story short: they messed up my appointment and I went 'unchecked.' Its ok, though, we got to see all our family (both sets of grandparents, A.Corrina and U.Maury) and do some pantry stocking. So ... while the trip wasn't what we planned it wasn't all for naught.

I've been favoring "picture books" for my blogs over novels. So in the spirit of "a picture is worth a thousand words" here is a recap of life recently.

Planting seeds in our front planters.

On a play date with our friend Josiah and his Grammie. This is in their awesome backyard with crik and sand pile. Haven for little boys!

Another perk of the awesome yard: a pond to throw rocks into.

Desmond sitting for Dad's concert. The concert went very well: including a song inspired by the well-behaved toddler.

Jaxter showing Mama his new discovery of backyard flowers.

Playing in the rain.

A hand me down tricycle (from Josiah) that has been the highlight of our backyard ventures ever since.

The bell is an added bonus!

Desmond came and said "Mama, Jax is just playing with the stool." And my first thought was: that can't be good! And I was right! I think Marc will be hiding that stool for awhile till Mr. Jaxter learns a little better balance and control. =)

A sweet picture: Big brother helping little brother. Sharing an apple, Desmond looks concerned but he is really just *very* interested in how Jaxter is doing with his bites.

I was going to update my Blog but.....

I had to download pictures first.

I had to fold laundry.

Marc and I needed a night to catch up with each other.

The new Mythbusters Collection came out and I *had* to watch it. =)

I needed to work on my Bible study.

I was tired.

I did download pictures and therefore had to work with my computer for a few hours to get rid of the "low memory" warnings before the whole thing imploded (exploded?)!

All of the above.

Here is a synopsis in pictures of life lately.

This was my view of the Women of Faith conference last weekend (great seats!). This particular picture is of Nicole C. Mullen's concert Friday night of the conference.

While I was at the conference Marc kept the boys busy. First they went to the zoo with A.Corrina and U.Maury, which was a big hit. This is Jaxter with his favorite: ducks.

Desmond exploring things from a different point of view. =)

Oh! This is how it goes....

They spent quite a bit of time outdoors. Desmond and this bunny had many a (literal) go around. Around the tree, the yard stones and the yard.

And, of course, Jaxter followed suit. Monkey see, monkey do, that's our motto! =) That's all the pictures from the boys' weekend without Mama, but they also went to a park and to visit the local fish tanks.

Back home we had a surprise visit from Clifford at the library which was fascinating to Desmond and Jaxter, from afar. I'll spare you the picture of what Jaxter thought of Clifford from up close.

Miss Elizabeth babysat for a short while last Thursday and she led an expedition for bugs!

Holding a worm...and then two worms. After which he promptly gave them back to Elizabeth saying: "worms, wet".

We spend a lot of time outdoors and despite all our efforts to clean up our grassy backyard the boys always prefer to just play in the dirt. Boys will be boys. =)

A new activity that is fun to watch outdoors or indoors. =) If you watch close you can see he's got a little spring in his step. =)

Nananette and Gpa Michael took the scenic route to Denver and stopped to see us for lunch.

Gpa Michael and Desmond "painting" on the iPad which Desmond loves.

Yesterday we went to a track meet here in town. I didn't know how it would go over with the boys but they were absolutely entertained with all the events going on. The running, jumping, crowds, other kids. Whenever Desmond saw someone running or jumping he would look at me and say "Gotta run, Mama, gotta run!" and then start running (Or jumping as the case would be.)

Running on the mini track while students race in the background.

Desmond and Jaxter were so disappointed to not run on the actual track yesterday (because it was, obviously, in use) that we went back today to let them do just that. When Desmond got on the track he looked at Marc and asked "Where did the runners go?"

Jaxter exploring the track.

Today was also the open house at the Fire Station.

Jaxter trying his hand at driving the big truck.

Well that was our week. We hope you are all well and enjoying spring as it is quickly warming into summer. We'll see you again soon.

He is Risen!

He is Risen, indeed! Easter weekend must be the weekend to post because the majority of my blogger friends have new narratives and pictures up. I figured I shouldn't get too far behind and so here is a return to the favors of the news tidbits I enjoyed reading today.

My boys on Easter day.

What a weekend! Marc has a 6 (read: 6! WoooHooooo! 6!) day weekend and we have been squeezing every moment out of it. We both sat reveling in our oldest's abilities to play with play dough...

we sat outside with our boys drinking in spring, we took a walk, we jumped in puddles...

Yes, our puddle jumping was in the midst of a spring snowstorm that came down white and landed clear (water). Puddle jumping was a huge hit! =) See video below.

we took a drive, we took a 'hike' ...

Desmond's favorite thing everywhere we go: dirt.

Jaxter's a pro at walking now!

and this morning we celebrated the gift of salvation from our God: Jesus Christ - with both boys quiet and still in the pew with me while Dad sang with and conducted the choir. An Easter miracle to be sure. =)

We were also very blessed to have some company come and stay a night with us: Gramps and Grandma came to deliver Easter goodies and catch up on some face to face time with the boys. We had a grand time chatting with them and Desmond was eager to show off all his big boy abilities. Gramps frequently took on both grandsons and their games of catch as well as being a frequently requested book reader for Desmond. Gramps and Grandma also accompanied us to our first Easter Egg hunt. What noisy fun chaos. I will say, though, that the older my kids get the more I'm disappointed that there always has to be large amounts of sugar/candy/treats at social activities for little people. But that's a soapbox for another day. We had fun regardless the sugar levels.

Gramps: the pro at 2:1 catch with two little boys who don't really catch (although, they're getting there)

A belated birthday cake. Gramps had already had his annual Fluffy Frosting at his house but it was fun to have a celebration with Desmond.

Easter Egg Hunt: Ready..... Set.....

Go!

We also had a little fun with our friends on Facebook. I (with Marc's encouragement) posted a sonogram picture as my profile picture as an April Fool's joke. I felt bad about those who believed us, but it was fun to be able to "long distance" prank our friends (and some of our local pals, as well). We then posted a video of Desmond saying "April Fool's. Haha!" and I think that was our ticket to forgiveness from those that had fallen for our little trick.

And last.... a public service announcement: Beware of a new rare species....

Roaring Mohawk Monsters!
