Happy Resurrection Sunday

What an eventful week! We had a fabulous time at Gramps and Grandma's house doing all sorts of fun things. Including a trip to the museum to see the frogs, dinosaurs and play the fishing game in the play room. The boys also enjoyed breaking in the new from Grandma rain suits in the fresh puddles.

Then we headed home and participated in a floating Easter Egg 'Hunt'. I was a little dubious about it but it was so fun and the kids have been asking to go back. It was their first time *swimming* and they had a blast. Desmond has been in a pool twice before as a baby but this was his first time that he will be able to remember. Desmond went from terrified to excited every 5 seconds for the first 5 minutes but eventually was jumping in and "swimming". Jaxter wasn't sure at first dip but very quickly started having fun and taking advantage of the "yes, you can splash" verdict passed by mom. =)

We had a lovely Resurrection Sunday. I sang with some students at the sunrise service, then a potluck breakfast, Marc directed the choir during Easter service and then home for some no-commitment Sunday relaxation. We took advantage of the lovely weather and took the boys for another trike ride to the park.

Getting a little help from Dad on the uphills but otherwise doing very well with the trike talent.

Mastered the solo slide.

"Spring" Break

You might live in Wyoming or Montana when you are not surprised at snow during your 'spring' break. We are visiting Gramps and Grandma this week for Marc's time away from school and have already had a great time. We did an Easter Egg hunt this morning. Colored eggs last night. Visited the baby cows. Had a sleep over in an indoor tent. And went sledding! And that's just the first 24 hours. phew. =) Here's some pictures. More later.

Concentration....gentle...slowly...

Notice the space inbetween the boys where Dad had to lay until the calmed down and went to sleep.

Notice how Jax has aborted the activity and is heading toward the house.

Opening Easter presents from Grandma and Gramps after finding their Easter Eggs and baskets.

Our favorite game this week at Grandma and Gramps' house - bowling! =)

Some video to share with you. Not much different here. We got to go to a different park this week because the park that playgroup is usually held at was under construction. The boys liked that. =)

Here's Des and Jax tasting coffee. Now I remember tasting coffee when I was 2 or 3 and that was the end of my fascination with it until high school. I thought the same remedy would be effective on the boys but as you see in the video they both replied that they liked it even though their expressions imply different emotions about the taste. We'll see if it cured their obsession over trying to drink Mom's coffee or not. =)

This is Jax become independent on the slide. Prior to this week Jax would get excited about the slides and go immediately to the top, sit down and ... stop. Never could quite take the 'leap' to go down by himself even though he was probably physically able a long time ago. =) So this independent sliding is a big deal!

We live in a small enough town that they allow some in town fires for food purposes. This evening was so beautiful that we decided to roast marshmallows with the boys. They thought the fire was great and the marshmallows even greater. =) This video is of Jax trying to maximize his bites of his sweet treat while I am trying to make him have just a small bite so it doesn't burn him. And so his mouth doesn't overflow.

We have so appreciated this warmer weather. Here is a video of Desmond stretching his legs and learning about pedals, although on the way home he told me that his pedals needed to sleep. (I think that was Des speak for he was tiring out.) He rode all the way to the post office and back which is a good distance in a toddler's world! I was very proud of him.

Both boys on tricycles.

I was able to attend the Women of Faith conference this last weekend. A good time. It is very commercialized which kind of bothers me but the speakers always have good things to say and the music is always amazing. This year I was put in charge of the fellowship aspect of the weekend. All weekend we sit in chairs and face forward and don't really interact with those that we are sitting with. So this year I came up with a few activities to get us interacting and connecting with one another. One of them was to cater a dinner from Johnny Carino's to the hotel instead of everyone going out to a restaurant. It turned out wonderful. The food was great and fairly affordable and we played a get to know you game which went over well. All in all it was a wonderful weekend! Marc had taken Friday off (well, half of it and a babysitter came for the other half) to allow me to go to the entire conference. I am blessed.

My mom and I at the conference.

We had a good friend come visit us this weekend as well, Joel. He came to help us evaluate and fine tune the sound system at church as well as play some rockin' djembe with me during worship. I don't think that I've seen Marc laugh that much since last summer hangin' with Bob and Nathan. It was fun to have a friend here.

Desmond helping Joel carry his djembe. Des and Jax both took to Joel right away and even gave him hugs before he left, impressive.

Our Sundays are very busy with Easter coming up. Marc is directing the church choir. We are also participating in a Sunday evening Love and Respect Bible Study (excellent material, by the way). So we spend most of our time on Sundays at church. To save on stress we've starting just taking snacks and sometimes supper to church instead of trying to eat in time at home. Here's the boys having snack while Mom sings in Dad's choir at church. They are learning a little better each time to sit still and be quiet.

We are supposed to go on an Easter Egg Hunt this morning but it is a little gray and chilly. We'll see how it goes. I have some more video to share with you but will have to upload it later this week. Hope you are all well and enjoying your respective spring climates! =)

Tiger Habitat

Well, I am completely behind on my blogging. I will not bore you with the details but suffice it to say that the adults of this household are fairly stressed, overwhelmed and busy with various 'extras' that have come our way in the past weeks/months.

The children of this household have undergone a metamorphosis and we find ourselves hosts to two rather tame and silly tigers. I will be spending some time researching discipline, diet and preferences of tigers for our new tenants, unless, of course, the change is mysteriously reversed during bath tonight. =)

He would not let the artist finish the stripes so he came out more like a cat...

Skipped the orange on this one thinking he wouldn't tolerate any of it and he actually sat still the whole time and was quite enamored with the process.

Jungle Cat #1.

Jungle Cat #2.

I was impressed with the dexterity of this tiger. I gave him special permission (without the other tiger observing) to play letter games with Elmo.
