Up to Halloween

Doing a fire pit with good friends.

 Rod and Rachel.

 Watching the fire.

Chocolate loving boy having a s'more.

Not chocolate loving boy getting help with a hot marshmallow.

Playing with friend in their "cave".

Gross spider - as big as a watch face - if I ever find one of these *IN* our house Marc will be a lonely man till he moves north again. ;)

Its finally happened - the boys are learning how to play Nintendo. Super Mario Brothers (original) to be exact.

Rachel teaching Des how to work with dogs. She is a dog trainer who has 4 dogs of her own, all of which are very well behaved. The boys LOVE the 2 littlest ones - this chihuahua and an Italian Greyhound (think small) - so much so that when Rachel comes over they ask if Emily and Bean are coming, too, so sometimes they do. =)

Emily (the chihuahua) is a magnet for little people.

 This is Desmond being "spooky".

 Playing....

This super hero cape has been the incentive on the boys' chore chart for weeks and it coincided with Halloween, so.... they were Super Heros for Halloween.

Everything is funner with 2 boys helping....and more complicated.....and lengthier in time.... =D

 Super Heros!!!!

Ready to go trick or treating for the first time (other years we have just gone to parties).

 His first Trick or Treat.
They do it different here in the south - people sit outside (cuz it was 70, though with a cool breeze) and doll out the loot, no knocking on doors....and there is a line for each "station". Interesting.
 Crazy crowded.

We hosted a marshmallow roast for our "treat". It was a big hit. I wasn't sure we'd get any tackers with the whole "don't let your kids eat anything unwrapped" rule.... but apparently Marc looks very unthreatening because almost everyone took him up on his offer.

Dark picture but the line went out to the street.

Desmond ready for his turn at trick or treating.

Desmond's first Trick or Treat.

The "Real" Birthday and Beyond

I had the special privilege this last Monday of helping baptize a new friend at Savannah Christian. What joy!

Opening a birthday package!

Hoorah for shared birthday presents (2 hats for 2 boys). These hats immediately incited the boys to begin quoting lines from the favorite movie How To Train A Dragon.

Tired birthday boy, went to quiet time with presents and fell asleep.

 Another birthday package...

Proudly showing off some of the gifts.

 Sympathy gift from Grandma. =)

He was so pleased with this little toy and has since been playing with it almost non-stop.

New Lego structures.....

Opening Grandma and Gramp's birthday gift.

Playing with the dragon. Toothless.

Such a busy day we almost forgot to sing to the special boy on his actual day!

The day after our birthday. Suspected sinus infection.

Watching Copy Kids on Youtube. Videos of kids eating good for you foods...notice Desmond is eating the raw broccoli, Jaxter is not.

The boys found Eggplant at the commissary and asked if we could have some.... I said yes. Now what?!

Eggplant Parmesan from scratch it is...
They both ate two pieces! =)

A lazy day picnic at Savannah Christian's nature trail.

Riding in new friend Rachel's big truck. They loved it and could see lost more than in the car... and the back window opened which was so very exciting!

 Frozen Yogurt.

My herb "garden" is doing well and even smells like...oregano! =)

Reading a book with Ms. Rebekah.

VIP Readers celebration, balloon swords and ice cream with sprinkles....doesn't get much better than that! =)

Birthday Fun

We celebrated Desmond's birthday today! We were blessed with two little friends and six big friends to help us celebrate Desmond's 5 years here on earth!  A day early as Mondays are busy for all, but much fun none-the-less.

Some pictures...

Marc's band (28C's) playing at a local elementary school's carnival fund raiser event.

2 friends helping me decorate as Marc had a late night mission last night.

The cake - Omnidroid 9000 from the movie Mr. Incredible. It had a good start but in the end suffered to not be my best work....

 Our birthday boy!

Opening our traditional breakfast present.

A Mr.Incredible action figure that knocks down walls.

Jaxter getting in on the action.

Nana's present for the non-birthday boy. =) He was so pleased with it when he finally got a sound out of it that he was running in circles with excitement!

Jaxter giving Desmond a present.

The final result of the cake...... sigh. When I went through the store to get the last item to make the legs my eye caught something that I thought would be infinitely easier than my original plan, so I got it.... turns out it was a bust and it was too late to go back to Plan A. So. The cake was not my best work, but Marc saved the day and came up with a way to at least finish the cake, even if not in the best form!

The finished decorations.... waiting for birthday guests!

Playing the pot game.

The Super Hero Squad! (They named themselves that.)

This is the Mr. Incredible book from our "book on tape" in the car. Desmond recited it to everyone while I turned the pages.

Presents.... chaos.

Eating cake.

The icing had some hilarious side effects.....
