Blueberries and Swimming Pools

This last Saturday we went to Alma, Georgia to watch another parade. Look below for a video of Marc's band marching and playing. We never know the parade route till we get there so, unbeknownst to me, we were at the tail end of the parade, which meant that we had to wait for the parade to get to us which was fairly painful for the boys but it paid off in the end with a "candy parade".  They always like seeing Dad in the midst of the parade jubilee and hearing the music.

Today marked a milestone in our eldest son's life: swimming lessons! =) He was ecstatic to be learning to swim and was so very excited. He did pretty well. I was, admittedly, a bit skeptical of the teachers (what Mama wouldn't be when her young son is perched on the edge of a very big water hole?) but they did a great job with all the participants and Des had a really great time despite shivering fiercely by the time it was done.

 The class is only for 4 years and up, I petitioned the director to test Jax's skills (I think he would do ok) but was denied. Although, today the head teacher said that if Jax does well in the Saturday 3 year old class then he can join the four year olds come July. This did not, however, do anything to lessen Jaxter's disappointment in not having a turn.

 Trying to have fun with a different activity. I am so sad for him, but his time will come.

 Jumping in! The teacher let them fall in so that they would get used to having their head fully under water, Des recovered well and even went back for a second jump.

Parades always throw so much candy, most of which the boys can't have, like Double Bubble. So, I chewed up a bunch and showed the boys some big bubbles, they thought it was hilarious especially after some of them popped on my face. =)
